We met each other working as cutters in the diamond district of New York City. Both lovers of Italian culinary tradition, one day our thoughts and appetites lead us to the same notion, to bring the best artisanal gelato to New York City. We both loved the idea and filled with enthusiasm, we left our jobs. Our quest took us to Italy, the source of traditional, classic gelato. We searched for the best artisans of gelato making from Sicily to Venice and we found masters who shared with us, the secrets of their fascinating craft.
Coming back to the big apple, we opened our first gelateria, L’Arte del Gelato, in the renowned Chelsea Market. After a little more than a year, we opened a second place in the West Village. A third location was established on the plaza of the venerable Lincoln Center.
This extraordinary adventure which started as a hunger pang, has become a true mission. Our inspiration comes from the countless customers who love our gelato. For them we wake up every morning, bright and early to look for the finest fruits in the market. We source the highest quality chocolate, nuts and flavorings available. And then we go to our laboratorio to prepare what we feel is the best gelato in the world.
