L’Arte del Gelato was created by Francesco Realmuto and Salvatore Potestio. We met working as cutters in the glittering but literally hard world of the diamond market. As cutters we sought to reveal the beauty and purity of the stones, but this world and the diamonds themselves were losing their meaning for us. We were at a crossroads. What did we love? What did we want to work at?
Like many Italians far from home, we missed our native food, those things you just couldn’t find even in New York with all it has to offer. We just couldn’t find the gelato we knew from home…
